Everyone’s favorite steamboat, Puffin, was taken to the boatyard today and put in the water! That’s when we discovered leaking around the prop shaft. Because of the nature and the level of care that a boat of 109 years of age needs, it was decided to take her back out.
Arrangements are being made to put her in storage, where the work can be done and the steam system can be tested. Unfortunately, this means that S.L. Puffin will not grace the docks of CWB this Wooden Boat Festival. However, this does mean that we will continue with her restoration and make sure she is put to rights. Keep checking for updates!
Thanks,
Boatshop Team
Steam Launch Puffin was made in 1906 by the Truscott Boat Works in St. Joseph, MI. For more information on her long history see: S/L Puffin Soon to be Back in Action!
